Senior Estimator
Location: Leeds
The Business
A successful and financially robust Yorkshire based Passive Fire Protection business with a field based technical team of around 85 specialists, which service clients throughout the UK. Services offered include Fire Compartmentation Surveys and works, Fire Door Surveys and works and Fire Stopping, for Public and Private sector clients.
The Opportunity
Based at a Leeds Head Office and reporting to the Managing Director, the Senior Estimator will prepare robust time and cost estimates for new work enquiries.
Enquiries will comprise a range high value, long term contracts/framework agreements and a series of one-off projects with individual contract values of c. £300K. All works enquires will comprise elements of fire protection including fire stopping, fire doors and active fire protection systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting systems and dampers).
In addition, the Senior Estimator will:
- Prepare priced response to a rolling pipeline of tender enquiries
- Work with Operational and Commercial colleagues to help develop proposals through innovation, and creativity
- Keep detailed records of all enquiry documentation, including site assessments and contract terms
- Balance multiple enquiries at once, ensuring deadlines are met
- Keep systems used to manage and report pipeline progress up to date
- Work within a well-established framework when analysing enquiries, identifying any potential risks and devising mitigation strategies
- Maintain relationships with existing clients keeping a sales-minded attitude, extending to building relationships with new clients
The successful applicant will hold:
- A track record in a similar role on projects for clients operating within the public and third sector where first principles pricing structures have been applied
- Effective customer-facing skills and be able to self-manage workloads
- Strong analytical skills demonstrated through a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (the program used to prepare responses to all enquires)
- A full appreciation of key contract terms including the JCT and NEC Form of Contract
- A clean full driving licence
The role will suit
Commercially focused team players with an interest (and ideally a proven track record) in passive and active fire protection. An individual from a joinery background would also be of interest.
Successful applicants will be required participate in a two-stage interview process that may include an aptitude test.
