Package Manager
The Role
- As a member of the project team, reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the building envelope including structure and cladding, and civils elements of this project; overseeing the design, coordination, and leadership of a number of Construction Managers and sub-contractors employed in a variety of trades within the respective area of works.
- Leading and managing a team of 3 - 4 Construction Managers.
- There'll be a high level of interfacing between internal departments and external agencies such as architects, engineers, sub-contractors and client agents.
- Reviewing package tender information produced by design teams and commenting where appropriate.
- Managing numerous packages for your designated area.
Key accountabilities
You'll be responsible for the daily management of the Structural / Envelope / Civil elements of this distribution facility project, focusing on delivering a quality service and product. You'll be working alongside a professional team, applying corporate systems and procedures, and firmly embedding the culture. In particular, this role involves:·
- Taking overall responsibility for project delivery and quality, managing the design process, offering value engineering solutions and sharing ideas.
- Leading the procurement schedule, making sure the right suppliers are engaged for the project.
- Looking after the master programme and forecasting as well as keeping up to speed with the project's status so you can escalate any significant delivery risks.
- Developing and maintaining close relationships with external professionals, clients, consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers to continuously improve the customer experience.
- Maintaining awareness of the commercial position of the project, actively engaging with the Commercial team to protect the companies position.
- Making sure the project team had the right people with the right skills in place, and managing, motivating and developing your direct reports.
- Ensuring there's full compliance with all relevant internal and external HSQE requirements and ISO accreditations.
Skills & experience
- Must have the right to work in Germany and be able to start within 2-4 weeks.
- Extensive Package Management experience with a top tier, main contractor, on multi-million euro construction projects is essential.
- Construction background, ideally within fast-paced Retail sector with Big Shed construction experience.
- Extensive Structural Steel works and Groundworks experience in a fast-paced environment with short programmes.
- Demonstrable sound and extensive construction technical and legislative knowledge.
- Experience of being involved with design teams and trade contractors at site meetings and project meetings and ability to contributes toward the project report.
- Demonstrable ability to lead a team of 3-4 Construction Managers and work effectively and efficiently with fellow team members.
- To act as the key co-ordinator with the professional team in respect to the design.
Qualifications
Educated to degree level in a construction related discipline or significant experience within a trade background:
- SMSTS/IOSH
- CSCS
- RAMS awareness
- First aid
- Working at height
- Asbestos awareness
- Occupational health awareness
- Fire warden
- PASMA
