Business Development/Marketing Manager
Office Location: Leeds
The Business
A successful and financially robust Yorkshire based Passive Fire Protection business with a field based technical team of around 85 specialists, which service clients throughout the UK. Services offered include Fire Compartmentation Surveys and works, Fire Door Surveys and works and Fire Stopping, for Public and Private sector clients.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Business Development/Marketing Manager will devise and implement initiatives to secure new and increase business through existing and new client relationships.
Reaching across all areas of the business, the role involves careful strategic planning to help enhance the Company's reputation and position within its chosen markets.
With a good understanding of the business, the market in which it operates and the services it provides, you will:
- Understand customer needs and be able to articulate responses in a manner that differentiates the Company from its competitors
- Research and identify new business opportunities, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships and services
- Generate leads and cold calls with prospective clients, seek out the appropriate contact, raise awareness of our capabilities and develop opportunities
- Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and tender enquires
- Support the production of tender bids which will include the need to narrate responses to scenario-based method statements
- Keep abreast of trends and legislative changes that may affect the way our services are delivered
- Devise promotional strategies and activities, including building a presence of company capabilities within business media, social platforms, trade shows and sector specific networking events.
- Manage the ongoing development of the Company website, branding and overall image.
- Analyse competitors, think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business

Essential skills:
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Effective literacy and numeracy skills
- Competent in the use of various Microsoft office packages and social media platforms
e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram etc.
- Negotiation skills
- Networking and relationship building
Desirable skills:
Past experience of bid writing, proposals, marketing content and design, including creation and management of social media campaigns
