Quantity Surveyor

Bristol office - with Nationwide Travel

Our client who is a highly successful commercial business is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and ensure that they always get the balance right between their drive for exceptional quality and their unwavering commerciality. This is an opportunity to help shape the business success and drive their continued growth.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will join their Retail Division working on Retail Supermarket Framework Projects based in and around the UK. You will be responsible for the financial aspects of a wide range of projects, working closely with a Senior Commercial Manager, the Divisional Commercial Manager and a Project Manager.

Role responsibilities:

  • Taking responsibility for all financial procedures, leading our valuations process, developing initial budgets, and agreeing a detailed cost plan
  • Suggesting contractors, systems and manufacturers for team appraisals as well advising on product selection, specifications, and sub-contractors
  • Advising clients on different procurement routes
  • Preparing and monitoring our bid package tender schedule, and overseeing the information flow to and from fit out
  • Participating in meetings with the design team and our sub-contractors
  • Liaising with our accounts team on everything from client invoices through to final account reconciliations and retention releases
  • Managing the change process throughout a project, and feeding back to contractors upon completion
  • Requirements:

  • A recognised qualification in a building-related subject
  • A strong commercial awareness - you know how to make profit whilst maintaining strong client relationships, delivering quality, and staying fully aligned to company values
  • Plenty of enthusiasm and drive - you will be committed to achieving both personal and divisional success
  • A proactive, hardworking, and forward-thinking approach
  • Excellent communication skills - able to get your point across in a positive, honest, and constructive way
  • Real focus and a structured style of working with excellent attention to detail
