Lead Construction Manager

Location Belgium (Brussels)

The Business

This division of the business delivers their most technically complex engineering led projects. The business as a whole turned over approximately £2.5bn in construction projects last year. They are a privately-owned company with strong financial resilience and a growing order book. They are specifically targeting growth in the Data Centre sector.

Integrated Project Delivery is the model of delivery being utilised on these projects. IPD integrates the skills from the client, main contractor, and subcontractors to deliver the projects as partners opposed to the traditional general contracting model.

The model is based on trust, shared risk and reward, collaborative decision making, early involvement of the IPD team, early definition of project goals, risk and opportunities, detailed/integrated and forward-thinking planning alongside open and transparent communication.

The IPD team includes client, contractors, and design houses.

The Role

To assist in the delivery of a hyperscale Data Centre project in line with the project goals by working with the business and Contractor teams in applying company systems, procedures, and values.

What you'll be doing

  • To work closely with the multi discipline departments as well as Health & Safety Manager in planning and delivering the works safely
  • To identify problems and offer solutions prior to and during construction.
  • To review design and shop drawings, the project programme and contribute where necessary.
  • To actively promote IPD philosophy and culture
  • To assist in the development of precise and succinct project reports
  • To attend trade contractor meetings
  • Help in the development of detailed programmes with the project planner and MEP Team.
  • Help to produce short term programmes.
  • Good understanding of M&E and controls systems
  • Assist in ensuring that targets in both production and quality are met.
  • Assist in ensuring that there are no logistical blockers preventing productivity.
  • liaising between trades on site to ensure cooperation and collaborative working.
  • Implement Zero Defects and ensure high quality standards are met.
  • To work predominantly on site to gauge and measure productivity
  • Ensure integration of all stakeholder schedule, progress, reporting and forecasting methods.
  • Develop and manage the assigned Project Controls team to be efficient and effective.
  • Assist in developing plans to mitigate the risk and manage optimisations.
  • Assist in developing claims/change management.
  • Ensure timely preparation of regular project and corporate reports.
  • Ensure project controls data is integrated with other project systems.
  • Be prepared to work on the projects located abroad should the project require.
  • Role Requirements

  • Recognised qualifications in Construction, Electrical or Mechanical Installation
  • Proven experience being hands on and delivering CSA based projects and able to be a key member of the engineering business.
  • Previous experience of successfully carrying out a similar role to a high quality.
  • Fully conversant with regulations, standards and all relevant Health & Safety legislation and previous experience of successful implementation on a major project
  • In addition to general knowledge of common construction and fitout processes
  • Applicants will need the right to work in the EU (European Union)
