- Description
Our client is a financially strong construction developer and funder with a head office in South Yorkshire focussing on residential developments throughout the North of England. This is not a volume house builder as projects are more bespoke ranging from luxury housing, apartments and residential conversions of existing buildings.
Due to continued success, there is a requirement for an experienced Construction Materials Buyer to join the team. You must have a solid background as a Buyer with a main contractor, house builder or developer.
This is a great opportunity to establish the in-house Buying team for this successful developer with excellent career prospects as the business continues to expand.
Reporting directly to the Construction Director and commercial lead the role requirements include:-
- Existing contacts and knowledge of regional suppliers.
- Contacts with builder's merchants.
- Liaise with Contracts Manager and Site Managers to order materials in good time.
- Monitor lead times from suppliers for materials.
- Maintain sub contract and supplier database.
- Work with the Estimating and Commercial Team.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to negotiate prices and maintain the quality and delivery of goods.
- Draft and manage Service Level Agreements.
- Negotiate rebate rates and advise on business procurement strategy.
- Carry out product comparisons between suppliers to deliver best value for the business.
- Monitor stock levels to keep wastage reduced and liaise with the administration team to ensure smooth ordering procedures are streamlined.
- Experience of procurement and buying in a similar position is essential.
This opportunity comes with a competitive salary to £50,000 plus car allowance and full benefits package.
