Business Development Manager - Build
Based at: Regional or Head Office
Reporting to: Build Managing Director
The Opportunity
The business is a successful UK construction business with a turnover in excess of £500m. They are looking for a Business Development Manager with a strategic approach to help grow the build division of the business.
The Role
As Business Development Manager you will: Take responsibility for the improvement in relationships with key Clients, Project Managers, PQS's, Designers and our supply chain to enhance our knowledge gathering on future opportunities and success in improving our strike rate on tenders submitted.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Establish business development plan with strategic objectives which identifies key contacts within our sphere of construction activity, in conjunction with the Sector MD, Group Marketing Director, Estimating Director, Group Operations Director & Group Commercial Director.
- Arrange meetings and visits to the various key Clients, PM's, PQS's, Designers and Supply Chain. These will be generally undertaken in normal office hours.
- Record outcomes of meetings and contacts which identify strategic opportunities and obtain feedback on current performance and understanding of the perception of the business.
- Develop trust and relationship with these key contacts which enhances our opportunity to be selected for tender lists, negotiate work and improve our ability to secure projects.
- Obtain and collate feedback on projects completed, from key contacts to understand their views on the business and how we can improve.
- Involve Senior team in developing relationships by arranging visits, and possible "out of work" social events. The Business Development Manager will not be required to attend all of these events.
- Technical knowledge of construction processes to allow understanding of opportunities and ability to relay concerns back to the business.
- Provide tendering team with feedback during the tender process to enhance potential for securing work. Gather intelligence to our advantage.
- Development of the supply chain relationships in key packages to secure advantages during bids.
- Manage the database and conduct regular reviews with Regional Teams
