- Description
This is a national main contractor operating throughout the UK specialising in major new build accommodation projects.
The current requirement is for a Quantity / Senior Quantity Surveyor to be site based in Birmingham working on a large new build £90M 500 room student accommodation development in the city centre which is currently starting on site. You will be involved in delivering commercial aspects of this major project which will run for the next two years.
This is a permanent role which will be predominantly site based role throughout the duration of the project.
You will play a key role in the commercial success of this and future schemes including:
- To manage packages of work on this major project.
- To provide feedback on deviation from cost bill
- Prepare and accurately forecast final accounts
- To develop strong customer relationships with key clients and their officers
- To take overall responsibility and accountability for the commercial elements on a number of contracts
- To offer assistance, support and mentoring to other team members
- To assist the Contract Manager with pre-start planning and programming
- Change management control
- Profit and delivery maximisation and efficiency
- Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
- To manage the day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting
- Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout
- Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner
- Process subcontractor requests for payment
- Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designation projects
- Attend project and company related meetings
- Manage the costs on a project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of the cost situation
- Review Drawings for design changes to ensure any changes/ costs are recorded.
- Maintaining and developing professional relationships with the Client, to help future business development
You should be Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, ideally RICS qualified and have experience within a senior surveying position reporting to either a commercial manager or director.
This is a permanent role with excellent career progression. Salary is to £70,000pa (depending on experience) + car allowance + excellent package.
