Senior Buyer/Supply Chain Manager
Milton Keynes
Our client is looking for an experienced construction Sub Contract Buyer/Supply Chain Manager to join the eam at their Head Office near Milton Keynes.
The role reports into the Group Procurement Manager and would involve working closely with Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operations.
Listed below are the key responsibilities.
- To assist the Estimating function in the selection of Subcontractors for each trade. Selection to be based on Constructionline database approval, performance and H & S history, market knowledge, supplier preferences/recommendations, financial strength etc.
- To develop and maintain a robust and effective Supply Chain for key trade packages within the Build and S&L Business based on geographical and project requirements.
- To have a strategic overview of trade packages between S&L and Build sector and make the most of bundling projects and our buying power whilst conversely avoiding overstretching the supply chain.
- Dependent on size & nature of packages… have involvement with subcontract quotations, check and resolve qualifications, iron out where possible contingency items, attend/chair subcontractor interviews in conjunction with bid teams.
- Check quotations for specification compliance. Explore value engineering opportunity with subcontractors and offer to design team for comment.
- To negotiate key trade packages at Pre-Construction stage and appoint a preferred subcontractor allowing the agreement to be formalised quickly.
- Assist and liaise with the Commercial team with the formation of the sub-contract for early strategic packages.
- Work with Pre-Construction, Design, operational and commercial staff to devise a project procurement strategy, goals and action plans relevant to the project and ensure that the site commercial staff are aware of these and work in accordance with.
- Undertake financial checks on proposed subcontractors.
- Ensure the utilisation of database approved subcontractors where possible in accordance with the group IBMS.
- Attend tender review meetings as and when required.
- Carry out B2B meetings with Preferred Subcontractors for key trades.
- Liaise with Commercial Teams ensuring compliance in respect of the utilisation of vendor assessed and approved subcontractors.
- Attend and chair pre-let meetings for strategic packages..
- To monitor Subcontractor performance in line with group requirements.
