Senior Estimator - Construction
Location: Birmingham/West Midlands
Reporting to: Preconstruction Manager
The Role
The post holder has responsibility to produce methodical & accurate detailed tender submissions, (single, two stage or negotiated procurement forms), whilst ensuring that all relevant Company Group & Sector Specific Procedures and Policies are met, in accordance with the Integrated Business Management System.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Maintain specific paper and electronic tender file, ensure that tender data sheet is completed; tender documents are kept up to date. (Note: Electronic file is to be kept on the company server for data protection purposes)
- Attend and participate in tender launch and handover meetings
- Prepare tender enquiries and maintain target subcontract/supplier list for each tender. Monitor market responses to enquiries and deal with queries raised from the supply chain.
- Prepare (in house or out source) quantities in relation to the tender being prepared, submit in good time to supply chain in readiness for quote returns.
- Raise necessary tender queries to the clients team as appropriate and channel responses back to relevant team members/supply chain, also considering the business impact such responses have on the proposal.
- Attend site visits, technical meetings with key suppliers and mid/post tender interviews.
- Conduct detailed comparisons on returned quotations and prepare a summary schedule of the results. Raise and resolve critical issues affecting any comparisons. Check that the scope of the quotations is in line with the client's specification and table any variations on this for resolution prior to tender settlement.
- Prepare a preliminaries book and internal tender summary sheet and other supporting data in readiness for the tender settlement.
- Attend and actively participate in tender settlements, recording and making necessary director adjustments to the bid. In addition accurately record and monitor post tender activity.
- Prepare and assemble a quality technical submission document achieving at least the minimum requirements as laid out in the tender documents.

- Construction related qualification.
