Description

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a growing, independent construction consultancy providing Project Management, Cost Management and Advisory services across Yorkshire and the wider UK.

The business has established strong relationships with public and private sector organisations, delivering construction and capital development projects across healthcare, education and other sectors.

As part of its continued growth, the consultancy is looking to strengthen its Cost Management team with the appointment of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is keen to develop their technical expertise, gain greater project responsibility and progress towards professional chartership.

Working alongside experienced Cost Managers and Project Managers, you will benefit from direct exposure to clients, a varied portfolio of projects and the opportunity to develop your career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

You will assist in providing pre-contract and post-contract Quantity Surveying services across a range of construction projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with feasibility estimates, cost plans and project budgets.

  • Supporting the preparation of tender documentation and tender evaluations.

  • Assisting with procurement and contractor selection.

  • Preparing valuations, assessing variations and supporting final account negotiations.

  • Monitoring project costs, cash flow and financial performance.

  • Supporting cost reporting and risk management.

  • Working alongside senior colleagues, design teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Developing your knowledge of JCT and NEC construction contracts.

About You

  • Ideally 2–4 years' experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably within a construction consultancy.

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.

  • Experience of pre-contract and/or post-contract cost management.

  • Exposure to public sector projects would be advantageous, particularly healthcare or education.

  • Working towards MRICS accreditation, or with ambitions to become chartered.

  • Strong communication, numerical and organisational skills.

  • A positive, professional approach with a willingness to learn and take on responsibility.

Salary & Benefits

  • £35,000–£40,000 salary dependent on experience.

  • Performance-related bonus scheme.

  • Enhanced pension contributions.

  • Private medical insurance.

  • Life insurance and critical illness cover.

  • Enhanced holiday entitlement.

  • Funded professional development and support towards chartership.

  • Excellent long-term career progression opportunities.

This is an ideal opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor seeking a move into a progressive consultancy where they can develop their experience, work with established public sector clients and progress towards a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor position.
