MEP Commercial Manager
Location: London
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a multi-billion pound turnover global construction business, delivery some of the highest profile developments in the UK and worldwide.
My client is looking for an MEP Commercial Manager with experience in the Health and Science sector. In this role you will lead the win and delivery for a large research laboratory and healthcare facility located in Central London of approximately £250m total build value.
Key Responsibilities
Winning Work:
The induvial must have a track record of being part of the team delivering city centre, complex science and health projects - circa £100m+.
A strong track record in the Science, Healthcare and Technology construction market.
Appropriate skills to contribute commercial elements of bid proposals and presentations to win projects.
Project pre-construction and set-up:
Support pre-construction procurement in liaison with site team
Maintain and develop supply chain relationships
To suggest trade contractors, systems and manufacturers for team appraisal.
Be aware of element costings and costs/ft².
Prepare and monitor Bid Package Tender Schedule.
Advise on product selection, specifications and assist with value engineering exercises.
Advise on selection of Works Contractors.
Project delivery:
To suggest trade contractors, systems and manufacturers for team appraisal.
Prepare and monitor Bid Package Tender Schedule.
Advise on selection of Sub-Contractors.
Monitor the information flow both to and from Fitout to ensure that work undertaken by Fitout and sub-contractors is always fully authorised.
Attend and if necessary, chair meetings with the design team and with sub-contractors.
Instruct accounts to pay subcontractors and suppliers
Prepare 'rolling' final account throughout project and agree at PC. Subsequently, close out financial account and retention releases
Prepare final account reconciliation (CVR), create regular budget and price updates, update computerised cost control system and prepare the monthly cost and progress report for Fit Out directors responsible
Best Practice Health & Safety and Quality Project Reporting
Contribute to the monthly VPM project reporting process ensuring that reliable and accurate information is provided on which to base Board Reports. Through the monthly reporting process and other feedback, identify and address potential problem areas, ensuring that client reporting is accurate and appropriate.
Effective Risk Management:
Proactively manage and monitor the change process and financial reporting for assigned packages to ensure commercial and relationship risk avoidance and management.
Contribute to regular project team meetings that include risk assessment and management as key agenda items.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with supply chain organisations and suppliers, attending subcontractor meetings and providing support in effective management of the supply chain.
What do you need:
- Experience of delivering large scale or multiple medium value projects £100m+.
- Experience in all forms of contract but NEC in particular.
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to multi task.
- Ability to understand the wider picture whilst devoting attention to detail.
- Proactive, diligent, able and willing to think ahead.
- Attitude: characterised by enthusiasm, commitment to personal and divisional success.
- Values: the person must understand the values of the company.
- Commercial awareness: understanding and ability to meet commercial objectives whilst retaining relationships and company values.
