Description

This is the Major Projects Division of a tier one national main contractor operating throughout the UK.

The current requirement is for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to be site based in Birmingham working on a large new build £90M 500 room student accommodation development in the city centre which is currently starting on site. You will manage the commercial team delivering all commercial aspects of this major project which will run for the next two years.

This is a permanent role which will be site based.

You will play a key role in the commercial success of this and future schemes including:

  • Oversee and manage the commercial project team
  • Develop strong client relationships
  • To authorise Commercial staffs sub-contract appointment proposals in line with the businesses profit plan and targets
  • Change management control
  • Profit maximisation and efficiency
  • Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
  • To manage the day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting
  • Develop an understanding of the designated contracts, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout
  • Assist the Managers with subcontractor selection
  • Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner (of any designated schemes)
  • Ensure that subcontractor requests for payment are appropriately processed in a timely and contractual manner
  • Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designation projects
  • Ensure the company is neither compromised nor disadvantaged by any contractual or financial arrangement
  • Oversee staff to ensure they Manage the costs on any assigned project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of all commercial matters
  • You should be Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, ideally RICS qualified and have extensive experience within a senior surveying position managing a commercial team.

    This is a permanent role with excellent career progression. Salary is to £75,000pa + car (including electric models ie Tesla or similar) or car allowance + excellent package.
