Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Sheffield

About the role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for:
- Receiving client brief and assessing scope of works
- Estimating, preparing bills of quantities and schedules of works for pricing projects
- Tender stage sub-contract and material enquiries
- Sub-contract procurement and award, producing sub-contract agreements and maximising profit via price betterment/main contractor
- Attending, contributing to and taking minutes of meetings as required
- Keeping master files of contract
- Preparing valuations with clients, agreeing amounts for payment and ensuring invoices are prepared and issued.
- Processing sub-contract payments - knowledge of Coins would be an advantage
- Re-measuring work using site measurement and measurement from drawings
- Informing sub-contractors of contract variations
- Valuing
- Pricing
- Dealing with contractual issues from a commercial perspective
- Provision of cost advice to design consultants
- Assisting with reporting on contract performance via monthly cost/value reconsilliations
- Agreeing client and sub-contract final accounts
- Assisting with contract management duties as and when required
QUALIFICATIONS/RELEVANT INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- HNC/BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (or currently working towards)
- Relevant construction industry experience
- Ability to work under pressure
- Methodical approach
- Numerate
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literate - including Coins, BIM 360 and Microsoft packages
- Willingness to learn
- Full driving license
