Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Sheffield

About the role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for:

  • Receiving client brief and assessing scope of works
  • Estimating, preparing bills of quantities and schedules of works for pricing projects
  • Tender stage sub-contract and material enquiries
  • Sub-contract procurement and award, producing sub-contract agreements and maximising profit via price betterment/main contractor
  • Attending, contributing to and taking minutes of meetings as required
  • Keeping master files of contract
  • Preparing valuations with clients, agreeing amounts for payment and ensuring invoices are prepared and issued.
  • Processing sub-contract payments - knowledge of Coins would be an advantage
  • Re-measuring work using site measurement and measurement from drawings
  • Informing sub-contractors of contract variations
  • Valuing
  • Pricing
  • Dealing with contractual issues from a commercial perspective
  • Provision of cost advice to design consultants
  • Assisting with reporting on contract performance via monthly cost/value reconsilliations
  • Agreeing client and sub-contract final accounts
  • Assisting with contract management duties as and when required
  • QUALIFICATIONS/RELEVANT INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • HNC/BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (or currently working towards)
  • Relevant construction industry experience
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Methodical approach
  • Numerate
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate - including Coins, BIM 360 and Microsoft packages
  • Willingness to learn
  • Full driving license
