In-house Legal Assistant / Legal Counsel / Paralegal
Location - Leeds (outskirts)
Role to Support legal Director of fast growing Construction and Development business
Supporting the Legal director including:
- Assisting with negotiating construction contracts
- Drafting professional appointments and collateral warranties.
- Legal research
- Reviewing contracts
- Maintaining document archives and registers
- Drafting legal documents
- Assisting with Company Secretarial duties including maintaining the statutory books for a portfolio of companies.
- Liaise with Insurance Brokers on day to day queries.
- Ad hoc tasks as and when needed
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Experience working for a leading private practice law firm and/or relevant in-house legal experience. In-house experience is preferred although not essential.
- A general understanding of the structure of construction deals (or a desire to learn).
- Overall broad legal knowledge (UK commercial law and governance, construction law, compliance, employment law, property law etc).
- Ability to communicate precisely on legal matters/risks to non-legal colleagues.
- Able to identify & analyse critical business issues & apply legal expertise to deliver solutions.
- Able to work independently and manage large volumes of work.
- Positive, self-motivated and able to work effectively without close supervision.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise is essential.
- Sound judgement and analytical skills.
- Strong IT skills (including Microsoft Excel).
