In-house Legal Assistant / Legal Counsel / Paralegal

Location - Leeds (outskirts)

Role to Support legal Director of fast growing Construction and Development business

Supporting the Legal director including:

  • Assisting with negotiating construction contracts
  • Drafting professional appointments and collateral warranties.
  • Legal research
  • Reviewing contracts
  • Maintaining document archives and registers
  • Drafting legal documents
  • Assisting with Company Secretarial duties including maintaining the statutory books for a portfolio of companies.
  • Liaise with Insurance Brokers on day to day queries.
  • Ad hoc tasks as and when needed
  • The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working for a leading private practice law firm and/or relevant in-house legal experience. In-house experience is preferred although not essential.
  • A general understanding of the structure of construction deals (or a desire to learn).
  • Overall broad legal knowledge (UK commercial law and governance, construction law, compliance, employment law, property law etc).
  • Ability to communicate precisely on legal matters/risks to non-legal colleagues.
  • Able to identify & analyse critical business issues & apply legal expertise to deliver solutions.
  • Able to work independently and manage large volumes of work.
  • Positive, self-motivated and able to work effectively without close supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise is essential.
  • Sound judgement and analytical skills.
  • Strong IT skills (including Microsoft Excel).
