Recruit Build is working on behalf of a leading UK developer of care homes to recruit a Construction Buyer to join their commercial team at their Leeds head office.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, well-established business with a strong pipeline of projects across the UK. The ideal candidate will have previous construction buying experience and a proactive, detail-driven approach to procurement.
The Role:
As Construction Buyer, you’ll be responsible for purchasing materials, plant, and equipment to support multiple live projects. You’ll work closely with the commercial and site teams to ensure timely delivery of goods and services, while securing competitive rates and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase materials, plant, and equipment for construction projects
- Process requisitions and place orders with approved suppliers
- Source quotes and negotiate competitive prices and terms
- Track and expedite outstanding deliveries
- Manage plant hire and off-hire requirements
- Liaise with the commercial team on material costs and lead times
- Work with site teams to ensure timely, accurate delivery of goods
- Identify and assess new suppliers and maintain procurement records
- Approve relevant invoices and maintain internal procurement systems
- Manage company tools, equipment, and workplace property
- Report any faults or issues promptly to your line manager

Experience & Knowledge Required:
- Previous buying/procurement experience within the construction sector
- Comfortable liaising with management, site teams, and suppliers
- Proactive and ambitious with strong attention to detail
- Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with SAGE 200 is advantageous
