Location: London
Division: Fit-Out
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Divisional Director, you will join the Fit Out - Major Projects team of a multi-billion pound business, working on Commercial Fitout Projects throughout London.
You will deliver a quality service and product to clients in line with the project goals, by working with the professional team and applying the company systems, procedures, and culture. To support the construction team in the resolution of design related issues in a timely manner to prevent a negative effect on the construction programme and with awareness of the commercial implications the resolution may produce.
The Role
You will support the Fitout team by swiftly resolving any design-related issues in line with our commercial objectives to keep the wider construction programme on track.
Your role will involve:
Taking full responsibility for the design coordination of projects with a value of £10 -£50million
- Auditing the designs and identifying inconsistencies, discrepancies, and missing information as well as recording, reporting, and tracking the close-out
- Managing the production and control of the design programme and reporting against it
- Chairing design workshops with our trade contractors and consultants, developing the designs, producing workshop drawings, and managing the coordination between trades
- Reviewing the development of designs regularly alongside the Commercial Manager to ensure everything is aligned
- Managing the production and approval of samples, mock-ups, and quality benchmarks
- Coordinating the integration of our building services team with the architectural and structural elements of the project
The Person - what you will need
Experience in design or construction management - or a construction-related qualification
- A passion for design, a commitment to excellence and a focus on continuous improvement on both a personal and divisional level
- The organisational skills it takes to prioritise your own work, deliver on time and delegate effectively
- A high level of attention to detail and the ability to stay focused in difficult situations
- Strong teamworking and communication skills - happy to share your knowledge, support your colleagues and keep everyone up to speed with any issues
- A willingness to take full accountability for your role, actions, judgements, and decisions
- The ability to build trust, confidence, and new relationships with others - you will also understand how to generate new business
