The business has a strong pipeline of work across Yorkshire and the wider region, delivering a varied portfolio of commercial, industrial, education and public-sector projects.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in Design Management, working alongside experienced construction and design professionals on projects from pre-construction through to delivery.
The Role
You’ll play a key part in coordinating the design process, ensuring information is delivered accurately, on time and in a format that works for the construction team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating design information across live and pre-construction projects
- Managing architects, consultants and specialist subcontractor design
- Identifying design gaps, risks and buildability issues
- Chairing and attending Design Team Meetings
- Managing design programmes and information release schedules
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
- Supporting value engineering and practical buildability solutions
- Coordinating consultant appointments, scopes and responsibility matrices
- Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, Commercial teams and clients
- Ensuring the design supports safe, efficient and profitable project delivery
Who Are We Looking For?
This role would be particularly suitable for someone already working as a Design Coordinator or Assistant Design Manager who is looking to take the next step in their career.
Alternatively, it could be an excellent opportunity for an Architectural Assistant – Part 2, or someone from an architectural background, who is considering a change in career path and would like to move into contractor-side Design Management.
You should have:
- Experience within construction or architectural design
- A good understanding of the design and construction process
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- The confidence to work with consultants, subcontractors and project teams
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to design
You don’t need to be the finished article. What’s more important is a strong technical grounding, good communication skills and the ambition to develop into a fully-fledged Design Manager.
What’s On Offer?
- Salary of £35,000 – £40,000
- Car allowance
- Comprehensive company benefits package
- Varied and technically interesting projects
- Excellent career progression
- The opportunity to develop within an established regional contractor with a strong forward workload
