Recruit Build is working with a leading offsite construction and MMC specialist to recruit a Design Manager for their newly established Residential & Emerging Markets division based near Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly innovative, award-winning business at an exciting stage of growth, helping shape and develop a new sector delivering high-quality, sustainable residential and mixed-tenure projects.
The role could suit an experienced Design Manager or potentially someone from an Architectural, Technical or Engineering background who is already managing projects and looking to progress into a broader design leadership position.
The Role
- Lead and manage the design and technical delivery process from pre-construction through to project delivery
- Coordinate internal teams, consultants, subcontractors and external stakeholders
- Ensure designs meet client requirements, programme objectives and regulatory standards
- Oversee design development, technical coordination and project compliance
- Chair and lead design coordination meetings throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage consultant appointments, scopes and design deliverable
- Support innovation and continuous improvement across design processes and technologies
- Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure seamless integration between design and construction
Requirements
- Previous experience within a Design Manager, Technical Coordinator, Architectural or Engineering role
- Strong technical and construction knowledge
- Experience managing design processes on construction or residential projects
- Understanding or interest in MMC / offsite construction
- Good commercial awareness and organisational skills
- Experience managing consultants and pre-construction design activities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive approach with the ability to problem solve and drive projects forward
